Alhaji Aliko Dangote has maintained Africa’s richest man for seven consecutive years with a net worth of $12.2 billion in 2018.

Forbes’ record, reveals that Dangote’s worth at this time shows an increase of $100 million from his worth last year.

Speaking about Dangote’s fortune, Forbes said: “Dangote is looking beyond cement –his most valuable asset – and has been investing in a fertiliser production company and a large oil refinery. Dangote Fertiliser is expected to start operatiwwons in the second quarter this year.”

Diamond mining heir Nicky Oppenheimer of South Africa ranked second in the list with a net worth of $7.7 billion, up $700 million from last year. Oppenheimer is one of 8 South Africans on the list, making it the African country with the most billionaires.
Other Nigerians on the list are Globacom Chairman Mike Adenuga ($5.3 billion) adjudged the fifth richest in Africa and Mrs Folorunsho Alakija ($1.6 billion) rated the 15th richest in Africa.
