At least three people have been injured after the shooting at Great Mills High school in Great Mills, Maryland Tuesday morning, according to WJLA.

The local sheriff’s office says the shooting is now over and the situation is ‘contained’.

‘There has been a Shooting at Great Mills High School. The school is on lock down the event is contained, the Sheriff’s office is on the scene additional information to follow,’ the school district said in a statement just before 9am ET. A press conference is expected to take place some time this morning. 

Parents are being asked not to come to the school. Instead, they can be reunited with their children at nearby Leonardtown High School.

Students will be taken to that high school after they are evacuated from the school.


The shooting comes just four days before the March for our Lives, a march on Washington, DC and in other cities across the country, organized by survivors of the February 14 shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida that left 17 dead.

the shooting reportedly happened just after school started at 8:15am, in the art hallway.
