The meeting between the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the Governors of the five Eastern States was said to be futile as the IPOB leader maintained his residence towards the restoration of Biafra.
The meeting which was said to have it’s core agenda on discussing the way forward regarding the November 18th governorship election in Anambra State, lasted for about four hours in the Enugu State Government House. The Governors failed to convince Mazi kanu as he insisted on his bid to ensure the governorship election did not hold.
The governors were also said to have invited Kanu to discuss issues concerning the alleged violation of his bail conditions for which the Federal Government had asked an Abuja High court to issue an order to re-arrest him.
Another issue of concern to the governors was the Biafra Secret Service (BSS), which Kanu reportedly inaugurated at Umuahia, Abia state, an act the police described as unlawful.
Kanu had earlier said that the BSS is not a terror group but an armless group instituted to ensure safety of the Igbos that would be returning back from the Northern Nigeria against the October 1st quit notice.
The meeting also had Prof Ben Nwabueze and Deputy Secretary General, Igbo Leaders of Thought (ILT), Evangelist Elliot Uko, present.
